So after 37 long hours of uncomfortable traveling on the rose petal scented bus, (not really. We all smelled, and it pretty much filled the bus with stench) we arrived at a little camp in New Orleans. This camp its pretty neat, there are four little little blue ranches with bunk beds filling the interior. Also, there are four showers in our cabin... which when we arrived at 3am we basically ran to the showers to wash the two days of stench off of ourselves. A shower never felt so refreshing! We were then happy to hear that we would be waking up at 6:30am to eat breakfast, then hit the bus again to travel to our worksite. (excuse my sarcasum) ( :
I woke up two hours later after face-planting on my bunk all sprawled out happily. I had an "everything" bagel, and some juice and was ready to take on the work day. Of course I was pumped to plant cypress trees, until I found out that we could be "lower on the food chain" with greetings from poisoness snakes, angry little red ants, and wild hogs. I felt as though I had just entered the show Fear Factor. Nevertheless, I inched my way into the swampy forest area and was ready to take on my shoveling job (I was the shoveler). I prayed to God that I would not encounter a snake, or a hairy hog, and my prayer was answered. I soon began to feel comfortable, and it ended up being a successful day of work. Our goal was to plant 200 trees for every group of three. My group was Emily, Zach, and well, me. Zach was the tree carrier/place in hole person, Emily was the orange tape person, and I was the shoveler. Which the shovel got so full of mud that I had to wack it against a tree every ten minutes.
Back at the cabin after a good day of work, we waited on dinner. Everyday there will be a work group in charge of cooking dinner. Tonight we had spaghetti, salad, beans, bread, and I think that's it. It was pretty good, so I give e-highfives to that work group. I'm excited for our group to make dinner. I think it's overall a great experience to work with eachother, it bonds our class together a lot more.
I'm sure I've left out a lot of information and details, however I am super tired, so any punctuation/grammer and spelling mistakes I've made, I'm sorry. I blame it on my lack of sleep. ( :
Lindsay just got a McFlurry and I think I kind-of want one, sooooo... Goodnight! ( : (Oh yeah, we went on this blogging trip to McDonalds-they had wi-fi...)
SHOUT OUT: To my parents...(if you can't handle this- idk what you'll do when I go to college! ( : Love you) and to my boyfriend Matt (I know you'll be reading this you silly! love you) ( : -Keebler I miss you!!!!!!!
